I know what you are thinking, you call yourself a sales and growth strategist, what does Public Relations have to do it? It is pretty obvious, media coverage means FREE advertising and exposure for your business. Full disclosure, I have no Public Relations or media training, but as you can see below, I have been successful in obtaining media coverage. How so? Well, Public Relations is sales but with a slightly different emphasis. In order to be successful, one must be strategic about the media outlets and journalists that you are pitching. In other words, ensure that the journalist covers the topics that you are pitching. When you approach a journalist with a story, you are actually solving a problem for them - content. Every journalist is looking for content. However, the key aspect to any media pitch is identifying what makes your story newsworthy. If you are strategic about who you pitch and can clearly communicate what makes your story newsworthy, then you will have success.
